of section two of A History of Faroese Literature, Volume 1. The e-book
also includes preface, introduction, afterword, notes and index.
A History of Faroese Literature, Volume 1 offers a comprehensive account
of literature written in the Faroe Islands and by Faroese authors abroad. The
history includes literature written in Faroese and in Danish, the official
language of the islands up until 1948. The first volume of a forthcoming series
covers literature from the Viking Age to the end of the 19th century. The book
is divided into five sections: the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the
Enlightenment, Romanticism and Romantic Nationalism . In addition to providing
a chronological narrative, it places Faroese literature in a European literary
and cultural context.
