Blade is fourteen. He ran away from
something. He is extremely good with a knife, and we know that he has killed
someone. He tells us his story in second-person narrative, straight up in plain
language. He expects you to know what he is talking about, if you don’t, well,
then that’s just the way it is.
No matter how much Blade wants to escape
his past, he can’t. And he tells us almost nothing about it, just a few bits
here and there.
The main revelation in Mixing It comes as a
real shock!
The narrative style in Blade is lively,
fast-paced and easy to read. However the narrative itself is intricate and
challenging, it is a real joy to read.
