During
the summer of 1948 Tróndur and his father are living on a pasture by a river,
close the the Swedish border. It is a summer with wood logging, timber floating
- and with the dark atmosphere of death, deceit and forbidden love. Tróndur is
fifteen. The experiences he has during these weeks of summer will follow him
for the rest of his life. More than fifty years later he moves with his dog to
a small cabin by a lake. Here he tries to set up a new life, far away from the
life as a businessman in the city. He has always dreamt of living in a place
like this. His closest neighbour then turns out to be another scarred old man;
someone whom he knew a long time ago, and whom he now must decide how to deal
with. The summer of 1948 has come back to haunt him - and maybe it is too late
to find reconciliation with the past.
